Dear Pastor and
Church family,
Home. By the time
you receive this
letter, Joy and I
will be back home in
Madrid. We are so
thankful to the Lord
for His protection
and blessings during
our three-month
furlough. Reporting
to our churches and
having the
opportunity to
participate in
Missions Conferences
always encourages
our hearts. The
gifts and generous
love offerings have
covered our
expenses. Again we
are reminded of the
truth that God
provides for all our
needs, and does so
in amazing ways. To
each of you who have
had a part in making
this furlough
special, we again
say “thank you”.
Visitors. During our
absence from the
work, God has
blessed with
visitors. Miguel,
who has been sharing
the preaching load
in our absence,
called to share that
he has lost his job.
Before leaving, he
was able to witness
to his boss and
several other men.
We thank the Lord
for his good
testimony at work
and ask you to pray
for God to provide
him with a job. He
is the second father
in our church to be
laid off as
Spain’s
unemployment now
surpasses the 20%
mark.
Christmas Program.
Upon our arrival in
Madrid, we
will be joining the
preparations for our
Christmas program,
one of our main
evangelistic
outreaches of the
year. Our daughter
Sandy arrives in
Spain the day after
we do, and we’d
appreciate your
prayers for her as
she begins her
ministry in Madrid.
Her first need will
be an apartment to
rent, so pray that
God would provide
one in the
neighborhood where
we will begin the
new work in January.
My Dad. My Dad, Jay
Loveday, has been
diagnosed with
dementia and gone
down rather quickly.
God has directed our
steps and permitted
us to set things in
order. Dad is now
living in a nursing
home and will be
entering the
Alzheimer´s unit
when something
becomes available.
Pray for my Mom as
she faces numerous
challenges ahead.
Many of you have
already walked the
road of caring for
aging parents, and
as you have
encouraged us, we
will continue to
trust in our loving
Heavenly Father who
controls everything
and gives us His
peace.
Car odyssey. On one
of our trips in
November, while
test-driving my
Dad´s car before we
sell it, the car
overheated. Then
began our "broken
car" odyssey. After
the third
auto-repair shop and
almost 5 days later,
we were told we had
a "cracked head".
The amazing news, is
that my Dad had
bought an extended
warranty of 7
years/70.000 miles.
The car is 5 years
old and has 8000
miles, so they will
replace the "head"
at their expense. We
have learned many
lessons about prayer
and dependance upon
our Heavenly Father.
In a special way we
thank the Lord for
our dear friends,
Charles and Ann
Jones, who housed us
for a week in their
home and then drove
us all the way back
to Kentucky from
North Carolina.
Joy in the midst of
trials.
As we get “back in
the saddle” and
return to the
ministry in Madrid,
we ask the Lord to
guide as we continue
preparing the saints
for service and
making new contacts
to win the
lost. Thank you so
much for the gift of
your prayers and
love which have
given us many
reasons to rejoice
during our furlough,
and renewed strength
to serve the Lord.
Because of your
faithful prayers and
support, the work
moves ahead and we
are excited to see
Him work in our
midst in the coming
year. May God bless
each of you as we
celebrate the
birth of Jesus
Christ, and
may the new year
provide us many
opportunities to win
to the lost till He
comes.

Jack was saved at the
Gilead
Baptist Church
Detroit, Michigan in 1971.
Joy was saved on the mission field of SPAIN in 1974.
The Loveday's graduated from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO in 1979. They served their internship at the Twin Cities Baptist Church in Mishawaka, Indiana under two pastors; Rev. Walter T. Andrews and Rev. Mike Randall. After approval from BBFI Missionary Board in May 1981, they began their deputation for Spain.
The Loveday's arrived in Spain in September of 1982 with their oldest daughter, Amanda, age 3. They served with Joy's parents-Lavon and Carolyn Waters-for 3 years while learning the language. During this time, their second daughter, Sandy, was born. At the end of this first term, they returned to the United States for 4 months with plans of launching out on their own upon return.
After returning in June of 1985, Joy was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease, a lymphatic cancer, in stage 3. She underwent chemo and radiation (in Spain) and they spent the next few years recovering from this trial. In 1986, they put a down payment on a store-front building (by faith) and began the work on the building which took about 8 months. On February 22,1987, they began having services in the building along with another Spanish couple who had come from another work to help them.
The Loveday's ministry to Spain is varied in detail, from regular weekly services to prayer meetings and tract distribution. They have bi-monthly children´s meetings that are combined with Ladies Bible study to make it easier for the Mom´s to attend.
Spain's only religion is Roman Catholicism. It is engrained and woven into the fabric of every area of the Spanish culture. The work in Spain is very slow and the salvation of souls is very rare... but the Loveday's believe that God has souls there who He will save and who need to hear the Gospel.
The Iglesia Bautista Bíblica just celebrated it´s 22nd anniversary. God has been good and although the work is not very large, it is a good solid work as far as churches go in Europe. Average attendance is between 40 and 45 people on any given Sunday. Many immigrants (from South America) who work in spanish homes are being a witness where they are planted. There are 2 men who help with the preaching and who usually take charge when we the Lovedays go to the U.S. on furlough. Miguel and his family are from Peru, and Jose Manuel (spaniard) and his wife Diana (from Colombia) years old were saved and trained in the Iglesia Bautista Bíblica.
Another important ministry is the Mount Calvary Baptist Youth Camp. The camp was begun and is led by Lavon and Carolyn Waters (Joy´s parents). The Loveday's work at the camp every Friday and in the summer months. They work in leadership positions in the camp as well as organizing all the teaching material and the buying and preparation of the food for the 5 weeks of summer camps.
The Loveday's were married on June 2, 1978 and their birthdays are as follows:

Joy: March 25 1959
Our oldest daughter, Amanda (June 21,1979) is married to Eric Shadle and has 2 children (Kayla - 7 and Aaron - 4). They arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in July of 2009 to begin adapting to their new home and learning the language.
Sandra, our youngest daughter (May 17,1983) graduated from Bible College in May of 2006 and after studying one year of graduate school began the process of approval as a TEAM missionary. She arrived in Spain in June of 2009 to begin serving in the city of Guadalajara, under the supervision of her grandparents, Lavon and Carolyn Waters.
We thank the Lord for the blessing He has given us to have both of our daughters serving Him on the mission field.
